Birding Tour Ecuador: Jimenita Reserve & Papallacta Pass Spectacled Bear

Highlights of our Jimenita Reserve Birding Oasis:

This tour is perfect for travellers that seek a half-day tour or relax in nature close to the airport surrounded by our Giant Hummingbird Feeders and other spectacular birding activity.

Depending on your day activity, we can start our tour in the Morning or Afternoon. After picking you up from your hotel in Quito and arrival to Hacienda La Jimenita Reserve, we will devote the first hours for birding in the main trails of the lodge, observing hummingbirds, tanagers and splendid views of volcanoes like Cotopaxi. In our feeders we will observe the Rare Giant Hummingbird that we observe it every day and you will enjoy it! After a delicious lunch at this Historic Hacienda continue birding in Papallacta Pass and possible Spectacled Bear observation. Afternoon drop off at your hotel. 

Target Bird Species: Giant Hummingbird, Western Emerald, White-bellied Woodstar, Black-tailed trainbearer, Rusty-flower piercer, Great Thrush, Yellow Grossbeak, Blue and Gray Tanager, Blue and Yellow Tanager, Crimson-mantled Woodpecker, Sparkling Violetear, Rufous-crested Tanager, American Kestrel, Harris Hawk, Giant Conebill, Rainbow-bearded Thornbill, Blue-mantled Thornbill, Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, Pearled Treerunner, Masked Mountain Tanager, Tawny Antpitta and others.
