Guango East Slope Reserve

Guango Reserve is a protected area of 250 hectares in the East Slope of Ecuador about 1 hour 15 minutes from Quito.  In Guango Lodge the grounds feature several hummingbird and tanager feeders, including open gardens and cloud forest. This type of climate and ecosystem in the temperate forest offers incredible birding without enhancing too much hiking. You can observe hummingbirds 2 feet away from you! Another highlight of this reserve are the trails along River Papallacta where its possible to observed several other bird species like tanagers, torrent ducks, masked trogons and more. A delightful lunch viewing the orchid gardens and hummingbirds will be a great combination for your birding tour.
