Our West Slopes Reserves include Plate-billed Mountain Toucan Reserve, Milpe Birding Road and Sachatamia Lodge. Its a natural protected paradise located in the West Slope Cloud Forest, is an important oasis of the Choco Endemic Area of Ecuador. The sanctuary is surrounded by rivers and waterfalls, which creates a network of birding trails with hummingbird and tanager feeders, orchids paradise, and viewing points to the cloud forest. The reserve is a mixture of primary forest, pasture and secondary regenerating forest. Since the reserve is located around 1500 feet lower elevation than Mindo Valley, we will observe many endemic birds not found in other areas.
